Course Objectives

- To gain insight into the human condition--and thus, to better know oneself and
sympathise with one's neighbor.
- To exercise the faculties in critical thought about and interpretation of the literature, culture, and values of British society in Victorian England, and in comparative analysis with the literature, culture, and values of (post)modern America.
- To develop and acquire skill in academic writing.
- To develop confidence in the sharing of thoughts, patience in listening to others, and tact in responding to others.
