Richard Beadon

Family

Richard Beadon was the son of Robert Beadon and Mary Squire. He married Rachel Gooch, by whom he had one son, Richard.

Education

He was educated at Blundell's school at Tiverton and St. John's, Cambridge. He graduated with his B.A. in 1758, and subsequently became fellow and tutor of his college. In 1768, he was made public orator of Cambridge. He was appointed master of Jesus College in 1781 and in the same year vice-chancellor of Cambridge.

Church Appointments and Service

Beadon was given a prebendary in St. Paul's cathedral in 1771, which he held until his appointment as archdeacon of London in 1775. He was elected to the bishopric of Gloucester in 1789, and translated to the See of Bath and Wells in 1802.
